Airedale Club

The National Airedale club is involved in rescue work and cooperates with regional rescues. These dogs were used as hunting, watching, guarding, police and even military. The breed was developed by farmers and fishermen in the area of Yorkshire between the rivers Aire and Wharfe. They needed the breed to hunt otters and crop-eating rats. These dogs are known as a king of this subdivision of the pedigree. The serial crossbreeding with other hunting dogs produced this breed. Thus, it was crossbred with the otter hound to improve the swimming skills and as a result the coat of the dog is waterproof. The National Airedale club is involved in rescue work and cooperates with regional rescues.
