Rescue Airedale Terriers tend to make very good loving pets. Perhaps, the first thing you must seriously consider before buying an Airedale Terrier is going to your local dog rescue organization. Abandoned dogs must be placed into secure homes for the rest of their lives.
Airedale Terriers are indoor dogs. A fenced yard is a requirement, as Airedale Terriers should have enough space to walk, run, play and exercise in. A rescue organization will not disqualify you, if you do not have a fenced yard. However, you will have to prove you are able and willing to provide your pet with necessary daily exercise. Putting an Airedale Terrier on a chain outside the house is not a way out.
The first step toward owning a rescue Airedale Terrier is completing the adoption application. The application is detailed and requires honest answers, as the well being of a rescue dog is of primary importance. Returning a dog for replacement means more injury and confusion for the dog. Therefore, remember that you must be ready to commit yourself for the lifetime of the rescue dog.
Some people are prejudiced against rescue dogs. However, the fact that the dogs end up in shelters does not necessarily mean they are sick or temperamentally unsound. Their previous owners could have abandoned them for various reasons that do not depend on the dogs. Change in lifestyle, leaving for another state, a new baby arriving, and illness or death of the owner might have resulted in having to abandon a dog. Rescue Airedale Terriers can be loyal friends and skillful house guards.
