Airedale Terriers - Health Issues

Airedale Terriers may suffer from eye problems, some skin infections and hip dysplasia. In general, these are very hardy and healthy dogs. Itchy skin can be a symptom of some dietary problem; allergies or it may indicate your dog has such diseases as hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. These health problems are controlled and treated quite easily.

Take the time to keep your pet's eyes and ears clean and dry. It will help prevent infections and irritations. Trim the toenails and the hair between the pads of your dog. In order to prevent dental problems, clean the Airedale Terrier's teeth. However, you are highly recommended to consult with your breeder and veterinarian about all the health concerns.

Airedale Terriers - Training

Start socializing your Airedale Terrier at an early age. It will increase the dog's confidence and will teach it the doggy behavior rules. Obedience training is a must with most Airedale Terriers, as they tend to be dog aggressive. Teaching them to respect you is the key to success of training sessions. The training sessions should not bore your dog. Airedale Terriers have a reputation of being "thinkers." They are unlikely to repeat things they find unnecessary or foolish.

Use positive motivation; be patient and creative with your dog. Airedale Terriers are easy to train and eager to learn, especially if they have an interested and skillful teacher.
